An eye-catching houndstooth print was originated in Scotland and considered to be a Fifties classic. A favourite of Audrey Hepburn by legendary designers including Coco Chanel, Christian Dior and Sonia Rykiel including the pattern in their collection season after season.

This monochrome check never goes out of fashion but this season is particularly trendy.  This autumn/winter designers played with colours and a size of the pattern. In many collections designers replaced the black and white combination with red, fuchsia, royal blue or pink. If you want a modern twist on this classic print go for a very big bold or micro pattern.

I chose a bold version of houndstooth pattern in a classic black and white combination. It is a great alternative to a black winter coat – it still goes with everything in your wardrobe but it looks less boring.
